Lighting

This is a fully functional model box and the two scenes I worked on for my school's Graded Assignment with emphasis on the lighting. The play is 'The Sound Of A Voice', and the scenes shown were from 4 and 9 respectively. Both scenes are set during the night, thus the dark blue lighting. Scene 9 ended the play with a tragic and horrific twist, in which the red lighting was meant to magnify the fearful and ominous feeling. I tried to play with colour and layering in these 2 scenes.

AutoCAD Drafting

This is the plan view and 3D drafting of my Graded Assignment. I was given the set drawing design and some dimensions for the stage, the rest was up to me to add on. This was a set from the play 'The Merchant of Venice', Act 1 Scene 1. Through the module, I have learnt the basic functions of AutoCAD.

Movie Posters

These are 2 Photoshop works I did in my first year. I was given the assignment to create movie posters advertising for the Disney movie 'Tangled' that is coming out in November 2010. I made use of colour theory and certain Principles of Design to create eye-catching images. I have learnt basic Photoshop, Adobe XD and graphic design skills through the module.

Theatre Puppetry

I played a secondary role in the Set department for my school's puppetry show that is targeted at young children. We had to brainstorm for ideas, create thumbnail sketches and storyboards for each scene, and craft multiple set pieces. I was given the opportunity to conceptualize how the scene looks like and what it consists of, how each set piece will fly in and out, what materials and textures would be ideal for each set piece and more. I also worked with many materials such as foam core, felt, paper, clay and twine, and experimented with ways to create the set and secure different parts together to make it functional beyond just an idea. More than just the crafting part, I am in charge of moving the set in and out during the show and have to be extremely clear of my cues. It definitely came with challenges, but it was memorable and taught me beyond what I expected.

Universe Of Feelings

I volunteered as Front Of House for my seniors' Final Year Project show, Universe Of Feelings (UOF). UOF is a sensory show targeted at special needs children, where the main character is a non-verbal child that goes on an extraordinary journey to find out about emotions and how to express his feelings.

As for Front Of House, there are multiple activities to engage the children before the show starts and help them to settle into the environment better such as handmade crafts, sensory boxes with different textures, and an emotion tree for them to place stickers representing their mood that day. I assisted in overseeing and engaging the children in the crafts, bringing them around to touch the sensory boxes and emotion tree, ushering the children and parents to the different activities and to their seats when the show starts and working the book sale booth too.

About

I'm a 2nd year student studying Arts and Theatre Management at Republic Polytechnic.

I have always been dabbling in art from an early age, and had the privilege to be part of the Enhanced Art Program when I was in secondary school. I was given opportunities to participate in competitions and workshops in Singapore. The projects showcased in this website are works during my time in Republic Polytechnic. They may not be my best works, but I had learnt more than I thought I could in this diploma.
